Set up in 2011, CelticLogs is 100% Irish owned and managed. Our mission is to provide all our customers with the best quality Firewood at a great price and excellent customer service.
We produce Kiln Dried Hardwoods - mainly Ash, Beech, Oak and Seasoned Softwood - mainly Sitka Spruce.
Firewood’s energy content is directly related to its moisture content. Our Kiln Dried Hardwood Logs have a guaranteed average moisture content of less than 20% (typically 15- 20%) and our Air-Dried Softwood has a guaranteed average moisture content of less than 25% (typically 18-25%).
With a guaranteed 25% or less Moisture Content our firewood gives intense heat, burns longer, and minimises residue on glass fronted stoves & flues. Simply put when you buy dry firewood you get more heat for your money.
The logs are cut, split and dried at our factory in Mountbellew, Co. Galway. Our Air Dried Softwood is put into a dry storage area until its moisture content reduces to a maximum of 25%.
The Kiln Dried Firewood that we sell is dried using our purpose-built Firewood Kiln until it reaches a moisture content of less than 20%. Our Kiln is heated using waste timber which generates very high temperatures. Hot air is circulated evenly through the firewood in the kiln chamber by a fan system. After the drying process is complete, the Firewood is stored carefully ensuring it is not exposed to any dampness.
The packaging, transport and delivery process that follows the drying process also ensures that our Firewood is not exposed to any environment that will affect its quality. All our logs are cut to approx. 20cm in length. Before packaging all of our Firewood goes through a screening process to remove debris. This helps ensure that our customers are getting even more value for their money along with making our Firewood clean to handle.
All our timber is sourced from FSC sustainably managed Irish forests with full product traceability and certified by the Wood Fuel Quality Assurance Scheme (www.wfqa.org). These logs are obtained as a natural by-product of the thinning process carried out to improve the overall health and wellbeing of the flora and fauna of these forests. On a continuous cycle, felled trees are replaced and replanted, thereby preserving the woodland for future use. Imported Firewood in comparison is much harder to regulate and increases the risk of the spread of exotic pests and diseases that are potentially very damaging to our native woodlands.
By not importing our firewood logs from abroad all the money generated in producing our product stays in our local economy and helps to keep the carbon footprint of our firewood at a minimum. In addition, the low moisture content our Firewood Logs results in fewer emissions when burned making it even more environmentally friendly.
We offer FREE Nationwide Delivery and always have plenty of firewood in stock. Delivery is by courier normally within 24-48 hours (Mon-Fri) for orders placed before 11am. In busier periods such as the Autumn and Winter months it may take longer. CelticLogs firewood is guaranteed to keep you warm in even the coldest of Irish winters!
